Standale Networking Brings Women Closer

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOTV)-Career-minded women from across West Michigan came out for a night of fashion and fun at The fifth annual WOTV 4 Women Network Night. The evening took place at Standale Interiors , and went to benefit the Degage’ Ministries Open Door Program.

The Open Door Women’s Center at Dégagé provides a safe place during the overnight hours to adult women in crisis. During the day-Staff is available to help women with setting goals and exploring options for securing a permanent home. The Open Door Program is open for female residents of Kent County who are eighteen years or older and in need of shelter.

A simple gift to Degage Ministries has powerful results. This season, as the weather grows cold, Degage’ Ministries is in need of items for the women. Items include hats, gloves, socks, under garments, t-shirts, blankets and personal care items. Below is a list of needed items.
Items can be sent to:

PERSONAL CARE ITEMS: toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, disposable razors, combs, washcloths, chap-stick, nail clippers, small tissue packs, shampoo, body wash, and lotion.

BLANKETS Many of our neighborhood residents sleep on the streets or in homes with inadequate heating. At the end of every evening, we distribute blankets to those individuals sleeping outside, as well as to the women who sleep in our Drop-in Center. You may help us with this need by organizing a blanket drive in your church, school or organization. We appreciate new or slightly used blankets and sleeping bags.

SCARVES, HATS & GLOVES Scarves, hats and gloves are a necessity for our neighborhood residents. Be a blessing to those we serve by gathering these items and dropping them off at Degage. it may be helpful to keep in mind that most of our patrons are men who prefer dark and neutral colors.
